Dermatology Chapter Home Page

The Council of the ACVSc (now ANZCVS) approved the formation of a new Chapter in Veterinary Dermatology in October 2002. The President of the Dermatology Chapter since its inception is Dr Michael Shipstone. He has been ably supported during the last four years by Treasurer, Dr Greg Burton and Secretary, Dr Mandy Burrows.

President: Dr. Michael Shipstone

Treasurer: Dr Greg Burton

Secretary: Dr Amanda Burrows

This is an exciting time for veterinary dermatology in Australia. The Dermatology Chapter aims to promote excellence in dermatology of all animal species by advancing the science and art of veterinary science as it relates to dermatology and in particular to further the professional education and training of veterinarians with a special interest in dermatology.

The Dermatology Chapter has been represented at Science Week since its formation and has been proud to host several international speakers as well as providing a scientific program structured to appeal to both general practitioners and specialists within the College who have an interest in veterinary dermatology. In the past seven years our Science Week organisers have been Drs Linda Vogelnest and Rebecca Bassett. In 2009 Rebecca has pulled back from this job to give a little bit more time to her family, but we extend a huge thanks to her and Linda
for their tireless efforts. In 2010 both Peter Hill and Amanda Craig helped Linda organise the Chapter meeting and in 2011 Peter and Amanda continued the work with the help of Karyn Wesselingh.

The Chapter is grateful for and would like to acknowledge the support of its sponsors. Due to sponsorship funding we have been able to invite international speakers to support our local dermatologists at Science Week; assist our residents and overseas members with travel expenses; publish our Chapter Proceedings and to establish a Chapter Research Fund.

For further information on joining the Dermatology Chapter, please contact Mandy Burrows at a.burrows@murdoch.edu.au.
